NonStop Traffic Formula News & Notes — Review of Training Video #2.

Jeff Johnson has released three training videos to help promote the relaunch of his traffic generation membership site, NonStop Traffic Formula 1.5.  This is the second in a three post series where I am reviewing each of the videos and then posting my notes at Web Business Research.  If you missed my notes from Video #1, you can find them at this post:  Jeff Johnson’s NonStop Traffic Formula News & Notes (Part 1 of 3).

Also, if you’d like to watch Video #2 of the prelaunch training you can do that here:  Prelaunch Video #2 of NonStop Traffic Formula.

What Jeff is doing is in his prelaunch videos is quite simple.  He is giving offering some great, free content.  He is then hoping that people will then say . . . “Wow!  If this is the kind of great stuff that Jeff Johnson gives away, the content inside his private membership site must really be good.”

I know that many of you want to learn the traffic-getting strategies and tactics that are in each of these videos, but you may not have the time to review the videos yourself.  What I am doing at Web Business Research is reviewing each of the three videos in detail and then posting my notes on this blog.  This gives you the opportunity to learn what is in each of these videos without having to spend 2 hours reviewing them yourself.

In the second video that Jeff released to promote the launch of NonStop Traffic Formula 1.5, he states that he is going to reveal 6 of his top 10 traffic sources.  In the video he only lists 5 sources.  However, you could add Google as the 6th traffic source because a lot of what he does with some of the other traffic sources does lead to improved rankings and increased traffic from Google.

Here is what you can expect in Video #2:

  1. Jeff will cover 6 of his top 10 sources of nonstop traffic.
  2. You’ll get at least 1 tip or secret for each source that you can start using almost immediately.
  3. A preview of what to expect in Video #3 where Jeff will show you how to apply these traffic sources with “Real Life Examples” in his Traffic Getting Jump Start Action Plan.

Before Jeff gets into the detail of the traffic sources, here are several reasons why Jeff Johnson chose these as his top 10 sources for nonstop traffic.  (N0te:  these are Jeff’s exact words):

  • You don’t have to be a Rocket Scientist to use these traffic sources.
  • I love free traffic.
  • Google is in love with them.
  • They are “backdoor” ways to sneak into Google.
  • Extremely powerful leverage engine.  (Many of these strategies will feed off the power each other.)
  • Even Google won’t be able to stop you.

What I like and respect about Jeff Johnson is that does not advocate “black hot” search engine optimization strategies.  He believes that if you want to work with Google you need to give Google what they want.  According to Jeff that means you need to:

  • Stop using duplicate or low quality content.
  • Establish your site as an authority.
  • Increase the time visitors spend on your website.
  • Increase social engagement on your website.
  • Increase social engagement on social sites.  (In other words, increase the amount of conversation about your site on social sites.)
  • Build higher quality incoming links.

Below are the 5 traffic sources that Jeff discusses in Video #2.  Again, I am going to assume that Google is source #6 because some of these traffic sources do result in more traffic from Google.

Traffic Source #1 — Twitter:

Make sure you put a Twitter button on your blog and encourage your visitors to use it.
Every time someone uses the Twitter button to talk about your blog or the content on your site, your content gets shared on Twitter.  And every time your content gets shared on Twitter it contains a link back to your website.  This increases the chances that your content will go viral.

According to Jeff and many other SEO experts, Google measures social media engagement on both your website and also on social media sites like Twitter.  The more people are talking about your site, obviously the better it is for the traffic numbers of your website.

Also, many posts from Twitter will actually be listed in the search results of Google.  It is a “backdoor” way of getting into the Google search results almost instantly.

In Video #2 Jeff Johnson talked about a study that Bright Edge Research conducted in August of 2011.   Here is the exact quote from Jeff regarding this study from Bright Edge Research:

“They did a study with 4 million random tweets.  What they discovered is that by simply adding a Twitter button to your website or blog, you can , on average, increase the number of mentions on Twitter by a factor of seven.”

That means by adding a Twitter button to your site, you can increase your social media engagement by 700%!”

Jeff also shares what he calls his “Twitter Blog Bounce Strategy.”  It’s essentially four ways to use Twitter more effectively in your business.

  1. Don’t try to sell on Twitter.  “Bounce” them to your blog from Twitter.
  2. Use Twitter buttons on your blog and websites.
  3. Ask you visitors to tweet your content for you.
  4. Tweet about hot and trending topics to siphon traffic from Twitter and Google.

Jeff also states that most people on Twitter have Facebook pages as well.  In addition to asking them to share your stuff on Twitter, ask them to “like” it on Facebook as well.

Traffic Source #2 – Contests & Sweepstakes:

Contest and sweepstakes can be a great way to generate traffic to your website.  Let’s face it, we live in a culture where people love to “win” something without having to pay money for it.

In Video #2 on the NonStop Traffic Formula prelaunch videos, Jeff Johnson discusses how he was able to generate over 26,000 subscribers with a sweepstakes offer.   His only expense was for the ipad touch that he gave away as part of the sweepstakes.  Unfortunately, no other details of the actual sweepstakes  was provide.

But one word of caution regarding contests and sweepstakes, make sure you consult with an attorney first.

Traffic Source #3 — Email Marketing:

Jeff Johnson, like almost all other successful internet marketers, is a huge advocate of email marketing.  In Jeff Johnson’s own words, here are a few things he has to say about email marketing:

  • Email marketing is the most powerful “on demand” traffic system you have.
  • Everything you do with traffic should revolve around building your list.
  • Drive traffic to your lead generation offer with Twitter, Facebook YouTube, articles, contests, sweepstakes, blogging, free software, and affiliates.
  • Once you get people on your list, be sure to use your email marketing techniques to drive traffic back to your Facebook fan page, to your Twitter account, to your YouTube channel and to your blog as a way to increase your social engagement even more

Do you see how this all fits together?

You build a list from all these traffic sources, and then you use your list to communicate with your subscribers — telling them to tweet your post, to become your friend on Facebook and recommend (i.e. “like”) it to their friends,  and to watch your YouTube videos.

Tell them what to do and they will do it!!

With this strategy you are “leveraging” it by tying it all together.  It literally feeds off itself.

Here are some more thoughts from Jeff Johnson on the “power” of email marketing:

“Email marketing is my greatest source of traffic and money!  This is why I spend so much time teaching list building and email marketing strategies to my students.”

“Everything!  And I mean everything that you do online should be used as leverage to build your list.  And if you do that you will never have to worry about traffic again.”

Traffic Source #4 — Free Software Giveaway:

Jeff Johnson has generated hundreds of thousands of leads over the years by giving away free software.  In fact, free software is what got me on Jeff’s list several years ago.  Jeff was giving away WordPress SEO plugin on his blog.  I subscribed to his blog to get his this plugin and I’ve been reading Jeff’s content ever since.

In Video #2 Jeff stresses that he knew absolutely nothing about software when he started giving away free software on his blog.  And he is not suggesting that you go  out and develop your own software.  What Jeff is talking about is using open source software that you can use as a lead generation offer to give people in exchange for their email address.

As for a place to find open source software, Jeff highly recommends SourceForge.net.

In this video Jeff states that there are “Four Distinct Profit Models for Software:

  1. Build a list so you can sell them products and services related to the software.
  2. Sell them training on how to use the software.
  3. Sell them a “system” that is based on the free software itself.
  4. “Do it for them” . . . provide a service that uses the free software, but you do the work for them.

Traffic Source #5 — Affiliate Traffic:

Another great way to generate traffic is to create a product and then recruit an army of affiliates to promote the product.

With this traffic generation strategy you are basically “outsourcing” your traffic generation.  Your affiliate are sending traffic to your offer and you don’t have to pay a dime to the affiliate unless he or she makes a sale.

Jeff is a master at doing “Product Launches.”  And one of the primary benefits of doing a product launch is that it allows him to build a list of tens of thousands of subscribers in days.

In Video #2 Jeff states:  “The goal of the prelaunch is to build your list.  It’s the whole point of doing the prelaunch.  The prelaunch is the greatest source of new traffic and new leads in the entire world.”

Traffic Source #6 — Google

Jeff did not mention this in the video, but I am going to take the liberty to add “Google” as “NonStop Traffic Source #6.”

When you are putting out content on Twitter, when you are giving away software, when you are running contests and sweepstakes, when you are building list and sending content to them on a regular basis, and when you have an army of affiliates promoting your products — it is only natural that you are going to get a ton of traffic from Google.  Some of it may be “backdoor” Google traffic.  But it is still search traffic from Google.

In Video #3 Jeff goes into detail on using Facebook, YouTube, Blogging and Articles to generate even more nonstop traffic.  And with these four traffic sources just like the traffic sources mentioned in the previous paragraph, there will be more traffic coming from Google.

That is it for second prelaunch video for Jeff Johnson’s NonStop Traffic Formula 1.5.
